While the film takes place primarily in 1966, this reference didn't hit the market until 1970—a minor historical inaccuracy but not a drastic one. TAG Heuer played an active role in helping find the right watches for the characters from a historical standpoint. While the film takes place in 1966, this particular watch wasn't released until 1968—according to Jeff Stein, period-correct Autavia watches were far more rare and expensive than later models. The watch is briefly visible during a tour of Ford's facilities when Miles puts his hand up to his black Ford-branded ear-muffs while standing above a roaring engine.
