Inspired by the true story of Michael "Eddie" Edwards, Britain's first Olympic ski jumper who competed at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Eddie is an unlikely athlete with thick glasses and little natural talent who discovers a loophole allowing him to compete in ski jumping, a sport Britain hasn't fielded in years. He travels to Germany to train and encounters Bronson Peary, a fictional character created for the film—a rebellious, hard-drinking former American ski jumper now working as a snow groomer. Despite initial reluctance, Bronson agrees to coach the determined underdog. Jackman wears a green Victorinox Swiss Army Original watch with a green NATO nylon strap and 40mm case, sometimes wearing it upside down on his right wrist. The film takes creative liberties with about 85% fictional content, but captures Eddie's inspiring spirit of perseverance.
